REASON BEHIND OBESITY
"Obesity doesn’t run in family. The main problem is nobody runs in the family."
What does obesity occurs?? Have you ever think about it? Have you ever tried to know the reason of your obesity? If you had never then this is the time to find out the true reason behind your obesity.
Obesity, however, has many causes. The reasons for the imbalance between the calorie intake and consumption vary in each individual. Factors like your age, gender, genes, psychological makeup and environmental factors may contribute to obesity.
REASON BEHIND OBESITY -
Genes:
Your genes may play a role in efficiency of metabolism, storage and
distribution of body fat. If you have a genetic predisposition for weight gain, you
have to be very careful. With little sedentary lifestyle, you can easily put on
weight.
Emotions :
Some people over eat because of depression, hopelessness, anger, boredom and many other reasons that have nothing to do with hunger. This does not mean that overweight and obese people have more emotional problems than the others. It just means that their feelings influence their eating habits, causing them to overeat.
There is something called emotional eating behavior:
1 you eat when you are stressed or very happy.
2 you eat as a response to your emotions, and seek solace in food.
Environmental factors:
The most important environmental factor is lifestyle. Your eating habits and activity levels are partly imbided from people around you. Over eating and sedentary habits are the most important risk factors for obesity. Nowadays life is in front of computers majority of the time, also technology has grown so much that automation is there in everything whereas previously everything was manual and people used to spend some energy in that.
Gender:
Men have more muscle than women on average. Men use more calories
than women, even at rest, because muscle burns more calories than other type of
tissues. Thus, women are more likely to gain weight than men, even with the
same calorie intake.
Age:
People tend to lose muscle and gain fat as they age. Their metabolism also slows down. Both of these lower their calorie requirements. So as age advances you need to eat less. With ageing chances of obesity and type 2 diabetes are both increased.
Food habits:
Lots of restaurants with fast food and preserved food is available as a result of which fresh food is often not cooked. Today’s world everybody is working, so question arises who will cook in the house and almost everything is available readymade so often people tend to buy directly and eat.
Lack of exercise:
Children spend their after school hours only on television and games on the computer. They do not go out to play outdoor games resulting in obesity from a young age.
Sedentary lifestyle:
Each year, a greater percentage of population spends its entire day working behind a desk or on the computer. Due to a lot of mental strain at work, they feel tired and find no time for physical exercise.
Pregnancy:
Women tend to weigh an average of 8 – 10 kgs more after a pregnancy than they did before pregnancy, this can compound with each pregnancy. With pregnancy often some people are advised bed rest and sedentary lifestyle as often people put on weight.
